Lately, I’ve realised that not every difficult day needs a solution.
Sometimes, I just need to ask myself, “What do I need right now?”
As mothers, especially single mothers, we can become so focused on doing that we forget how to simply be. We push our own needs further down the list and tell ourselves, I’ll get to me later.
But what if “later” keeps getting pushed back?
Maybe today I need to say no without explaining myself. Maybe I need to leave the dishes until tomorrow. Maybe I need to laugh, call someone I love, step outside, make du’a, or sit quietly with a cup of tea.
And maybe some days, I don’t even know what I need—and that’s okay too.
I’m learning that looking after myself doesn’t always have to be something big.
Sometimes it’s simply noticing myself again.
Checking in.
Listening.
And giving myself a little of the kindness I’m always so willing to give everyone else ❤️
